Extra Curricular Opportunites
We offer a wide range of extracurricular activities to students, catering for all ages, interests and passions. Our extracurricular program includes extensive opportunities across sporting, cultural and various personal development activities. These include:
Sporting Pathways
An important aim of our sporting program is to promote an active lifestyle for our students and provide opportunities for them to develop confidence, a sense of wellbeing, team work and social skills. Students are involved in an extensive Personal Development Health & Physical Education (PDHPE) program with lessons that focus on developing selfdiscipline and sportsmanship and introducing them to the rules and basic skills of a wide variety of sports. Interschool sport and gala days are arranged with surrounding schools and our students also have the opportunity to follow representative pathways in Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country and a wide variety of other individual and team sports.
Performing and Creative Arts
Performing and Creative Arts are a central part of life at St Matthews and provide further opportunities for students to develop creativity and self confidence. Students participate in choirs, drama performances, bands, ensembles, art shows, dance clubs, eisteddfods and a myriad of other activities throughout the year. Our dedicated performing and creative arts team also has an exemplary record of high achievement in the HSC, consistently working with students to produce outstanding results.
Excursions
Overnight excursions present an exciting opportunity for students to experience time away from home in a supportive and challenging environment, participating in activities that further their personal and spiritual development. All students from Kindergarten to Year 12 participate in a mandatory program of one day and overnight excursions and retreats that are carefully curated to meet the needs of students at their particular age and stage of development.
